Gabriel Morcillo Raya was born in Granada in 1887 and started studying painting with her aunt Paquita Raya. In 1907 he traveled to Madrid and began his studies with Cecilio Plá who rapidly realized his talent and invited him to leave his classes because more than benefit, they were going to hurt. She admired him so that he devoted a book "My dear disciple and teacher ...". Gabriel had lots of character. "I'm a man with enough talent, who does not care what people opine about me talentless". Against the pictorial currents of his time, he decided to go for a more concrete detail painting full of movement and color. Morcillo in the twenties is in Granada. Through Russian music of Rimsky-Korsakov, Borodin, among others, falls squarely in the taste for oriental and begins to create his compositions "Moros" as they were known at the time.
